2nd Gen Timeline Explained . . .
I’m so happy to be sharing the adventures of the Rojo 2nd Gen with all of you! As most of you know, the first book of the Texas Knights was based in or around 1999. The following books in the Texas Knights MC, Texas Kings MC, Conner Brothers, Tempests, and Rojo TX series followed after that in a chronological timeline.
While writing those books I didn’t even consider that I’d be writing the next generation, so I gave them LOTS AND LOTS of children. A whole bunch of kids. A small army of descendants. So many kids that it requires a spreadsheet for me to keep them straight.
I blame Martha and whatever she put in the water. (If you know - you know.)
When I made the decision to write the second generation I had a few things to consider - and the ages of the children were first and foremost in my mind. I can’t write about young adults and early twenty-somethings because at my age we don’t have a whole lot in common. With that in mind, I needed to age all of the ‘children’ appropriately, so I added 25ish years to put them into the present day. I know that’s not accurate if you do the math from 1999 to now, but math has never been my forte, and since this is a fictional world that exists in my head I can play around with things like that. If you read your way through the first generation of books, you got to see more than a few of the kids grow up. Emerald is a very good case in point. In Lout’s book she was barely 13 years old, but in Nick and Cindy’s book she was in college, and by the time Marcus and Reagan got their story she had a child of her own.
Now, by adding 25ish years, that would put some of the older kids who joined the families in or near their forties. (Think Emerald, Holly, Leia, Lexi, Adam, etc.) By the time most people are in their forties they have some history to draw from that includes marriage, divorce, parenthood etc. Of course that can really muddy the waters when there are cross connections. But if you think of it like reality, in such a tight knit community there would naturally be some crossover and not every relationship that stems from that would last forever. That’s why the majority of them will get their own happily ever afters. But while I’m telling those stories there’s a whole lot to unpack with previous relationships, parenthood, and the different experiences that people have throughout their lives.
I know that these families are very important to you so I try to be true to the spirit of the original books, and I hope that you’re able to navigate this new world with me. To help you do that I’ve added a tab on the website with family trees for each series. Those trees won’t explain every character you’re going to meet because Rojo is a town full of people who don’t belong to one of the MCs or their affiliates. If you’ve been following the reading order then you know that in previous books there were plenty of characters mentioned who didn’t get their own story, but they’re still around and so are the families they’ve created.
What about Eli and Neva? Or James, the man who Addie helped while he lived in Kari’s apartments? And then of course there’s Hank’s sister Mesha. And what about Leia’s half siblings? Those examples are just in Rojo - but there are even more in Colorado where the Tempests took place. What happened to Phoebe’s next door neighbors, or Jodie - the girl that lived with Katrine in Styx’s book. Blaze had a sassy niece in Sin’s book - I wonder where she is now.
Since almost all of ‘the kids’ are adults now they have varied interests, so there will be more than a few different series to help separate out the second gen. Each series can be read separately or if you’d rather you can follow the chronological timeline and skip around. Whichever path you take, you’ll always get back to the characters that you’ve come to love as they’re mentioned in their children’s stories.
I will try to make the connections that the characters have clear for you, but if you have any questions feel free to send me an IM on my FB page (https://www.facebook.com/cee.bowerman.5) and I’ll be happy to chat with you, or join the Texas Queens MC page (https://www.facebook.com/groups/texasqueensmcrojotx) and talk to other readers and get their input.
Happy reading!
