Sin Tempest

Dear Reader,

It’s time to wrap up the Tempests series with the final book for this generation - Sin’s story.

When I introduced Fain’s family, I had no idea that they’d end up with books of their own, but they captured our hearts while we read about Fain’s reunion and learned about how he was raised.

In this series, I’ve tried to show how resilient people are when they’ve got strong loved ones around to support them through thick and thin.  From the way they took care of each other through childhood to how they’ve been there for each other as adults, the Tempest family has proven to be an impenetrable force.

Too often, people who were raised in an abusive environment seem to unconsciously gravitate toward that type of relationship and repeat the behavior.  It’s a vicious cycle that never ends for some families.  A lot of abuse survivors unfortunately turn to alcohol or drugs to help them numb the pain of the trauma in their past, while others get drawn back into the life they worked so hard to leave behind.  I tried to show that the strings that bind this family weren’t tied by the abuse they suffered together; their love and loyalty has bound them together.  The strength they find in each other helps them make their way in a world that will never understand what they’ve lived through.

I know it’s fiction, but I feel like there are some stories that need to be told.  Sin’s story is one of those.  It didn’t start out that way, though.  At first, I imagined that she’d find love after a heartbreak and maybe fall for a handsome teacher that worked with her sister.  Or she’d run into someone she used to know and realize that he was her future.

Instead, Sin’s story took a darker turn with the very first words I put on the page.  It surprised even me.  But as I was writing, I realized that she was going to come out even stronger in the end, just like many do after experiencing the life of trauma she’s had.

I know you love the Tempest family as much as I do and hate to see it end, but it won’t really.  The series will essentially carry on in the second generation of stories I have planned, and we'll be able to compare the lives of the younger Tempests to the ones of the generations that came before them.  But first, we’ve got to see about Sin’s happily ever after.

I promise she’s going to get one, but the trip there is going to be a bumpy ride.

This story explores the cycle of abuse I mentioned earlier and shows how easy it is for someone who’s lived that life to fall right back into it, sometimes not even realizing it’s happening.  Sin’s book includes elements of gaslighting, isolation, mental and verbal abuse, childbirth, and kidnapping.  I also touch on sexual abuse, although I don’t go into any detail (and it’s not Sin who was attacked).

In the first few chapters, you’ll meet a woman who has been through something that will change her life forever and cause her to make a decision that will break your heart.  I promise, if you can get through the darkness of the prologue and the first couple of chapters, the sun will shine so much brighter on the other side, just like it does for Sin when she finds her way.

Buckle up and trust me to take you on an emotional roller coaster ride that ends with a happily ever after that’s going to leave your heart full and your eyes damp in the best way.  I promise.

Thank you for all of your kind words and support.  I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you sticking with me through all the stories I write.  I’m glad you love these characters as much as I do.  I can’t wait to bring you many, many more.

Happy reading,

Cee
